Privacy Policy
Effective 21 September 2026
Overview
Renewbie ("the app", "we") is built local-first: your subscriptions, payment history and settings are stored on your device, not on a server we operate. This policy explains what limited data the app touches, why, and where it goes.
What we don't collect
- No account, email, or password — the app has no sign-up or sign-in.
- No bank or card linking. Amounts you track are entered by you.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs that build an advertising profile of you.
- No server-side database of your subscriptions, payments, or notes.
Data stored on your device
Subscriptions, payments, categories, reminders and app settings are stored in a local database on your phone (via SQLite). This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export or back it up.
Backups
If you turn on backup, Renewbie writes an encrypted-in-transit copy of your local database to your own iCloud Drive (iOS) or Google Drive (iOS and Android) account, using Apple's or Google's storage APIs. We do not have access to that file — it lives in cloud storage you control, under your Apple ID or Google account.
Currency exchange rates
If you track subscriptions in more than one currency, the app fetches exchange rates from a third-party rates provider and caches them on-device. This request does not include any of your personal or subscription data — only the currency codes needed to fetch a rate. If the request fails, the app falls back to rates bundled with the app.
Purchases
The one-time Pro upgrade is processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play, and purchase validation is handled through RevenueCat, our in-app purchase infrastructure provider. RevenueCat receives a device/purchase identifier and transaction data needed to confirm your entitlement — never your subscription data, name, or payment details, which are handled entirely by Apple or Google. See RevenueCat's own privacy policy for how they process this data on our behalf.
Notifications
Renewal and trial reminders are scheduled as local notifications on your device. They are not routed through a push notification server, and we have no visibility into whether or when they're delivered.
Biometric lock
If you enable Face ID / Touch ID / fingerprint lock, authentication is handled entirely by your device's operating system. Renewbie never receives, stores, or transmits any biometric data.
Children's privacy
Renewbie is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children, consistent with the fact that the app collects no personal data in the first place.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for material changes, note it in the app's release notes.
